Color Mixer
Blend two colors together with smooth gradients.
What is Color Mixing?
Color mixing is the process of blending two colors to create intermediate colors. This tool uses color interpolation to generate smooth transitions between any two colors, giving you precise control over the number of steps and the blending algorithm used.
Whether you're creating gradients, finding midpoint colors, or building smooth color transitions for animations, this mixer gives you complete control over the blending process.
Blend Modes Explained
RGB Blending
Interpolates each color channel (red, green, blue) independently. Good for most use cases and produces predictable results. May create slightly muddy colors when mixing complementary hues.
HSL Blending (Smoother)
Interpolates in hue, saturation, and lightness space. Produces more vibrant transitions and avoids the muddy middle tones. Better for creating visually pleasing gradients.
How to Use This Tool
- Select your starting color using the color picker or enter a hex code
- Select your ending color the same way
- Choose the number of intermediate steps (2-50)
- Select a blend mode (RGB or HSL for smoother results)
- Click "Blend Colors" to generate the transition
- Click any color swatch to copy its hex code
Common Use Cases
- Gradient Design: Create custom gradient stops for CSS or design tools
- Data Visualization: Generate color scales for charts and heatmaps
- Animation Keyframes: Find intermediate colors for smooth color animations
- Color Exploration: Discover interesting colors between two known values
